Successfully Adopted Social Protection Innovations

Indicator’s Wording

number of social protection innovations successfully adopted by the social protection system

Indicator’s Purpose

The indicator assesses how many new services, approaches, or other innovations were successfully adopted by the social protection system.

How to Collect and Analyse the Required Data

Collect the following data by using the following methodology:

1) Pre-define the criteria of an innovation being “successfully adopted by the social protection system”. For example, new services or approaches can be considered as adopted if an official social protection actor includes them in their planning, allocates required funding and starts using them (ideally for a certain period of time).

2) Assess whether the pre-defined criteria were met by reviewing relevant documentation and conducting interviews with the concerned personnel.

3) Calculate the number of innovations which met the pre-defined criteria (i.e. were officially adopted).

Important Comments

1) Consider also assessing how many people benefit from the adopted innovation and what its actual benefits are.
