Indicator’s Purpose

The indicator measures the number of sessions where people who work on (the same or related) advocacy efforts had an opportunity to share their experiences and learn from others. Such occasions are often valuable for improving people’s advocacy capacities, creating a level of ‘shared purpose’, building peer support, and gaining inspiration for their work.

How to Collect and Analyse the Required Data

Determine the indicator's value by using the following methodology:

 

1) Define what can be considered a “sharing and learning session”. It should be an occasion when people from different advocacy teams can meet, share their experiences (incl. any lessons learned, good practices, etc.), and learn from each other.

 

2) Use key informant interviews and review of relevant documents to count the number of “sharing and learning sessions”, as defined above.

 

Important Comments

1) In addition to reporting on the number of sessions, be sure to provide qualitative information regarding the participants, the topics discussed, and any specific learning outcomes or other benefits.

 

2) The sessions are opportunities to share and learn, but also gather information on potential training needs and opportunities to identify and celebrate individual and collective successes.
