Indicator Purpose

How to Collect and Analyse the Required Data

Collect the following data by using observations of latrines owned by a representative number of the target group members:

RECOMMENDED SURVEY QUESTION (Q) AND POSSIBLE ANSWERS (A)

Q1 for data collectorIs the household's latrine clean? (no faeces, urine, etc. present)

A1: yes / no

To calculate the indicator's value, divide the number of households who keep their latrines clean by the total number of observed latrines. Multiply the result by 100 to convert it to a percentage.

Important Comments

1) In the case of communal sanitation facilities, the indicator can be changed to "% of communal sanitation facilities that are kept clean". This can be determined based on interviews with randomly selected users, key informant interviews and observations. A similar change can be made if you focus on the maintenance of sanitary facilities in schools or other institutions.
